Stray Notes

I'm still reading Dead Certain. Its surprising. Apparently, though a lot of his early success was due to a combination of luck and timing, it wasn't all that way. In fact, if you're a Bush fan, you can read it as someone who just hadn't met the right challenge -- and upon doing so, did a bang-up job. I'm not a Bush fan, but I'm impressed.

The other day I visited a web site which played music upon starting. Unfortunately, it was about ten thirty at night, I was in bed, web surfing, and the sound was clearly audible in my daughters room, leading her to call out What is that? So I left a note asking that they not auto-start the music. Yesterday, I found an entry on the web page that said, in effect, this is my site and I'll do as I like with it. I hope I wasn't the cause of that comment. I don't like ticking people off (unless they deserve it, which this person didn't). I did leave an apology, on the chance that it was me, for what that's worth.

Todays another busy day -- my daughter has to wrap up homework, an art project, and get over to the high school for The Home Show. My wife got suckered in -- she said she'd be available between the hours of eight and four to work there, and they translated that to arriving at eight, and working for eight hours. Gasp. Fortunately, I made the foodstuffs last night, but still.... And they'll be gone all day. My day will therefore be quite quiet.

What the freakin' heck is going on with the Democrats? Do they really want to play chicken with this election? About the only thing thats happening is that I'm beginning to think less of Mrs. Its Three AM... but dammit, people!

Still walking fairly well. Not all the time, but most of the time. I'd still like to get a walking stick (though I don't really need one). It is somewhat unsettling (shouldn't be, but it is) to note how many canes are sold by sites with names like Mobility Devices, and Senior Care, and Stuff To Keep Feeble People Upright. Gah.
