I almost didn't make it -- that headache was a killer. Fortunately, I asked if there was anything I could take that would not screw up the surgery, and they said yes, Tylenol. Which I promptly gulped down -- and an hour or so later, I actually fell asleep. Ah.
No idea what this afternoon will be like. I'll let you know. Think good thoughts.

sending all good thoughts I could muster up today, your way. I hope the surgery is successful and you're recouperation time, minimal.
I'm sending good thoughts your way too. Hope it all went well today!
Ladies, thank you. I appreciate your good wishes. They mean a lot to me.
Am I tired? Aw, hell yeah, as a friend of mine used to say. I believe the phrase is 'rode hard and put away wet'. My lips are puffy (my wife said she could not kiss me because I had tender lips; I told her that sounded like an Elvis title). So are my gums, all stitched up. I'll be eating lots of Jello and Pudding, next month or so. But he got all eight in (good bone, he said; if I was keeping a resume up to day, I'd be sure to add that) so - finally - the process of osseointegration has begun.
Not to mention, taking strong drugs.
Good thought winging your way! :-)
Sorry about the jello.
