Saturday

My wife and I just took a bit of a bike ride around the neighborhood. She's on call from this morning to tomorrow morning, and this is her way of purging pre-oncall stress. In fact, she's still out there -- I came back in to talk to the daughteroid, who had informed her mother that she wants to drop out of color guard. She pointed out that during weeks when the guard is performing, she'll have guard-related events three or four nights, which might impact her ability at school. I appreciated that, and if I thought it was likely, I'd just pull her out (whether or not she was enjoying it), but I don't think thats the reason for the angst. We think its partially because it really is a stressful environment, and partially because school will be starting in about three weeks, and she always freaks out when that happens.

Not too much planned for this weekend, but on Monday we go down to DC for the day to celebrate my birthday, staying overnight in a hotel near the Pentagon and Arlington, doing a little tourism, and then back on Tuesday.

Thank you, Rach. Yes, I think it'll be fun. DC's a little over two hours from us, so its a doable day trip, but since it's my birthday, we're going to do it up, just a bit. To prove what a plebe I am: part of it is going to be eating at a hamburger place in Maryland that I heard nice things about. Oh, the elegance!
