I mentioned to a friend of my daughter's that my math instructors in high school were basically aimed at math geeks; if you weren't one, they weren't interested. Which is not really fair to them, but thats how it felt to an underachiever like I was. In fact, I said, it wasn't till I was 35 or so that I learned what 'polar coordinates' were.... at which point, there's not much use for them. So what are they? she asked. I gave her a quick description, but truth to tell, I could barely remember. When I got back, I did a GSearch on the phrase.
Apparently, mathematicians still can't speak English.... and I don't know as much as I thought I did.
