Oddity

I know there's a lot of weird stuff in the world, and that perfectly normal people do things that I'd think are strange. I do know that.

But when I StumbledUpon a blog today written by a woman who's a sexually submissive person (ie, she's the Submissive in a Dominant/Submissive relationship), I was startled. I just couldn't understand why a person would want to do routinely do that, let someone else push them around. I gather she does it because she likes it, and she could stop at any time, but man...

Guess I'm not as open minded as I thought.

Bill,

I can understand your reaction, like mine when I started reading literotica.com. Its a little on the dark side for this country girl, but everyone has to get their kicks somehow. And the possibilities of the "somehow" are endles.

Well, I don't want to sound like a prig. I know there are sexual pursuits that I'd find interesting that others would not (so few people seem to really enjoy S'mores as a personal body lubricant), and, more seriously, I know that there are ones that others would find attactive that I would not. I guess my startlement here was the idea of debasing yourself (which is what I take being a submissive to be). I just can't understand why anyone would want to do that. I'm not opposed to it, because it doesn't sound as if people are forced into it, or get hurt (at least, in this blog it did not). I just don't understand the attraction. Its like people getting sexually excited by being told to go to another line at the DMV.

I like your turn of phrase. In a Star Trek:TNG episode, years ago, a character was a 'wealthy texas oilman type' playing in a casino. At one point, he said 'The airs getting a little thin for this country boy.' That stuck in my mind. You don't hear it too much in the city, nor, for that matter, in the rural area where I live now.

I too don't quite understand how being called derogatory words would be a turn on, or who would even put up with that from their significant other .. but if she didn't like it, I'm sure she'd change the situation.

*off to read more of that blog*

I think that anyone that I'd consider normal would change it if they didn't like it, Rach. What I suspect is that she DOES like it; even if she doesn't like the subservience itself, there's something about being subservient thats appealing. And thats what I can't understand. I've heard that the attraction is that, good or bad, you don't have to take any responsibility for your life while you're being dominated; if you really, really don't want to have to take that responsibility, then maybe being subservient is preferable.

I don't know, and I don't mock people like that -- but I do kind of wish I understood what made them tick.

Now that I'm at home, I've had more appropriate time/space to read more deeply into this blog. Its mucn more emotional than I can understand. Indeed Bill, mind boggling. And now for something more light hearted.
