I assume that the overwhelming majority of people in no way assume that they can affect the Great Events of life -- the national poverty level, the number of people without health coverage, political coarseness, people laid off due to corporate malfeasance of one sort or another. The odd thing is, I do think I can affect it. I can't, I know -- but when I don't, somehow I feel like 'I should have'.
I think that the only answer is the classic 'think globally, act locallly'. Though I still don't know how to do that.
