Surprise

My mother died the day before our anniversary. While cleaning up my mother's stuff, my wife found someting.

A beautiful 25th anniversary card.

It's as if she reached out and gave it to us. It's my mother, to a T. I really, really like it.

This makes me smile in a strange way. My father passed away in early December and I always secretly hoped that he had bought early x-mas presents and that we would find them, alas no.
Little things like this though make it feel like the line between life and death is not so final.

I agree. And it's certainly true that you're not really gone if someone remembers you -- as clearly you do.

I'm so sorry to hear your Mother has passed away Bill. I am so glad that you found her gift to you both.
It's never easy to deal with the emotional part, I've had both parents go and still get a gut punch to certain topics or sometimes it's just a stupid Folgers Coffee commercial (family reunions)
I'll add your family to my list tonight.
