I recall hearing of a phrase that was apparently said by carousing men in the thirties, faced with young women at nightclubs - I love my wife, but oh, you kid! I'm thinking a roughly similar thought about my daughter -- I trust my daughter, but oh, you kids!
Tomorrow night, members of the school's percussion group, who will be at the same event that we're attending, will be taking time to walk along the Atlantic City Boardwalk. I don't know the logistics of it, but I'd imagine it'll be a flotilla of four and five person groups, each sternly advised to stick together, not go into shady places, and be back to the hotel by eight. I asked my wife if, should my daughter ask to join them, we should let her. We looked at each other for a moment, then concluded No - too dangerous. Do we expect something to happen? No. Do we think it possible? Yes. We can easily see two or three kids saying we're just going to go over here for a while, you guys wait over there....and there goes your protective group.
We trust her -- but she's just fifteen. Possibly when she's thirty-five...or so.

Pacific Avenue is okay-ish. There are some incredible fish restaurants on that street, too. (We like Dock's. It's an old style place, on Pacific Avenue. The Mrs says "that's the place to go!".

Try not to eat in the casinos. The food is generally a might better than McDonalds, and three times the cost.
The outlet center is "sort of" perpendicular to the main roads. It's worth a stroll if you have the time.
Atlantic City is much better than it used to be. It's heavily patrolled, for one thing. These days I feel safe - no matter what I wear - even walking up to the Convention Center. That's where much of the cheaper parking is.
Enjoy!

Oh - try and get a look at some of the old Boardwalk hotels. There's one or two left. Assuming The Donald hasn't torn them down to build another casino or huge parking lot. :-)
