Taxes et al

Well, I think we're just about at the end of this travail with our taxes. What a pain.

I just checked the online site for our credit union account, and it shows the deposit from our tax refund. The amount matches what we had originally submitted, before realizing that we'd left something major out, which is what the amended return is all about. We'll be getting that off today. I suppose we ought to be grateful that the feds don't ask for the interest back, too. I suspect if they could, they would...but we're pretty small fry.

So when you take the amount that we'll get to keep, plus the stimulus check, I think we'll have enough to do something nice. Being basically mundane folks, we're thinking we'll use it for mundane things that we otherwise would not have done, like new curtains for the living room, or new chairs -- we have a sofa bed downstairs that's fairly beat up, that we'd like to replace. I found some chairs on a web site ; we think that a couple of them would go well down there.

We'll see.
