Wealth

An interesting comment from the Money and Minds site article about McMansions --

It is a sad but true statement about the human race that we don’t care about absolute wealth. We care about relative wealth - how much wealth we have compared to other people.

Yup.

Interesting thought, and one that can be applied to other areas of life, too! It can explain the huge SUV, the enormous flat-screen TV and my old boss' apparent need to own an RV that was bigger than his house.

I doubt it's gender-specific, too. Plenty of women want the nicest place, etcetera.

I am very fortunate that I am not married to anyone like that. I wonder sometimes what it'd be like to have a trophy wife, but when I realize that I'd have to give up this one to do it, I stop thinking about it, because NOTHING is worth that.
