Goin' The Distance

I've been walking every day for about five days now, and each time, I've used a cane. Its odd, but even though I don't need the support, it helps -- I don't end up with aching hips (maybe right at the end, but thats it), and I don't get out of breath. My wife says she thinks that it stabilizes me so that I walk more normally, instead of a mild rocking back and forth. Whatever the cause, the result is very pleasing to me. Today we walked about two miles, perhaps a bit more, up into the next development and back, and I feel just fine. This is good stuff.

It still isn't an elegant cane -- just a black metal one that my mother had used before deciding that she preferred using the walker -- but it does the trick.
