TSA

I mentioned that I was not impressed by the professionalism of the TSA at St Louis' Lambert Airport. The TSA people I've seen in other locations don't usually look very cheerful, which is understandable, but the people at Lambert's Gate A seemed actively churlish and nonprofessional.

According to this article, the people at Reagan International can be just as bad. And these are the people who are protecting us?

What does TSA stand for?

Transportation Security Administration. They have a range of responsibilities, but the ones I was specifically thinking about are the people who staff the security screening stations at the airports. Its a thankless job. Ironically, if you do thank them -- as I did, once, when I saw one of them do something that I thought helpful -- it flusters them, and the reaction is almost one of 'Why are you trying to distract me, you must be a terrorist.'
