I'm not a musician, but I wonder if what he's saying is that there are basic chords that musicians tend to fall back on when they want thythmic background melody?
He's in a tough position, put there partially by market realities, and partially by greed. He and others like him act on the assumption that only through money are they capable of getting talent ... and that money will necessarily buy talent, and only talent. Neither is true.
This is good news for Airbus, though bad for Seattle.
