I wish that it was possible (well, it
is possible; what I mean is,
that a method actually existed) for me to use our waffle maker to make
pizzelles. That just makes so much sense, to me. It'd certainly be fun -- but not "the twenty or thirty dollars, not to mention, shelf or counter space, that a dedicated pizzelle maker would take" much fun. Nope.

I like eating pizelles. My mom had a pizelle iron when I was a kid and made them.
We buy them from the store. They're okay but nothing outstanding. A coworker of my wife has a maker, and will give them out on occasion. They don't have the licorice tang that I prefer, but they're thicker, with a cake-like texture, and that, I like.
That's right...I remember mom using fennel seed in the batter.
Yup. My mother in law makes some Italian cookies like that, and I really like the taste. One of my minor goals is to be able to make some of those cookies she makes. Or that her family makes, which I only get to see at the annual reunion. They're not bad, not at all.
