I don't twit, so I was surprised to get an email today to inform me that a person whose blog I occasionally read is 'following me' on Twitter. Then I remembered that for a couple of days, I tried the application, before giving up on it. I thought I had deleted it, but apparently not. I don't think I'll be putting things there -- heck, I don't think I remember how to do that -- but maybe, once in a while, I'll stop by, just to see whats up. Trying not to be a twit, in the process.

Hi, Rach, I've missed hearing from you.

It's more like Blogger than Facebook, in that its a medium for people who write short notes -- I believe the max length is about 250 characters -- about what they are doing, or whats on their minds. One guy used it to complain about the service he was getting from a cable tv company, and actually got a response from one of the many vice-presidents of the company. I understand that there are some very innovative tools that interface with it -- one fellow uses it to look for specific keywords on eBay; another, to track references to specific companies in other people's conversations - and though many people use it via texting devices on their phones and the like, web-based interfaces are also available. Its not addictive to me (twitch, twitch), but to others, yes, it does appear to be so.

Their homepage is twitter.com.

I could go on a rambling comment about Twitter, but I won't because you already probably aware of my love for Twitter :)but...I will say Twitter's most effective use is connection with a community you care about and the sharing of ideas.
So, of course I had to look you up and follow you (in the least creepiest sense of the term ha).
One of us, one of us, one of us!

"a community you care about and the sharing of ideas." Well, unless there are communities of people who are casually, not fervently, interested in ideas, and like to talk lightly about them, and/or are amateur bakers, I think Twit's going to summarily eject me. post-haste. But we'll see how it goes.
