I bet it has something to do with magnetic force and that slight movement back and forth that the cans start to make. Maybe it causes them to all start moving the same way.

I agree, its got something to do with the cans. I wondered if he put it back on the table, if they'd get out of synch again. I suspect -- no idea how to prove it -- that the board is sliding back and forth, and that somehow affects it.
