I just asked the woman who'll be the guidance counselor for my daughter at high school if she could give me a rough guesstimate of how much homework to expect per week. My daughter currently gets about three hours a week.
After the usual 'it depends' statements, she swagged: about two hours. A night.

Two hours a night? That's a bit much, isn't it? Poor kids get all stressed out and worked to death before they're even 25 years old and have a real job.
It depends a bit on how intense that time is, I think. I would suspect that there is a fair amount of reading for each class. Part, too, is the level of the class. My daughter chose level 1 (of 3), which is the most difficult. If it turns out that she can't handle it, she can drop down to level 2 without any penalty, but so long as she is there, thats the level of homework they do.
How else to get into Stanford?
