Odd dream last night -- somehow I had arranged for a massive number of people to come to the local supermarket, all of whom had a specific birthmark - some kind of small black dot, almost a mole. No idea what the significance of the mark was, or why they were there. Just clustering. The woman I noticed when my wife and I were doing the shopping -- which was nice; we haven't done that together in quite some time; in fact, one of the first things I did which made her curious about me was that I offered to go to the store with her, back when we were in school together -- anyway, that woman was in the dream. Couldn't have had anything to do with the prominent cleavage, I'm sure. (And yes, I know its wrong to do more than glance, then avert your eyes as if scalded. But I do believe that people who dress provocatively lose some of their moral right to be offended at those who react to them. Of course, I also believe that people who were trained in religion but whose primary activity is more aimed at militancy should lose the right to be called 'reverend' or 'cleric' at some point -- and that hasn't happened., has it? So maybe my oughta-be list is a little shaky.)
Technology moves so quickly and in such quirky paths that I do believe you can tell someone of anything, real or not, and it'd sound plausible. Sure, I've seen someone do that. On TV last night -- was it the news? Or a movie? For example, has Spiderman seen this? A side effect is that things where people have worked to develop a new technology-based application may come across as an 'oh, well' deal. For example: I just this morning read about Quickies, which is a PC-based tool to allow information written on a sticky-note to be transmitted to, and stored/interpreted by, a PC, for later digital manipulation. (Some information on Quickies can be found here. ) Well, thats pretty slick, and I'm sure that it took some doing to accomplish. But my reaction? Yawn. I've heard of software that interprets handwriting, and I've heard of notepads that transmit what you've written to a PC for later digital manipulation -- whats the big deal? Not really fair, is it?
Cute name, though. Who wouldn't want a quickie?
Its going to be a slow weekend, kind of. My wife's working from home on a system refresh tonight. The daughteroid has no activities. I might do some baking. And we're going to try to get some sanity back from the three days of demolition that's been happening downstairs -- which, incidentally, are supposed to go on for the next two weeks. Oh, boy.
