....but not guys

From an article about how shoppers didn't seem to want to help a girl who was apparently lost (actually, part of a staged event):

"On one hand, I wish someone could have stopped to check on a little girl who was obviously by herself," father Brian Ball said. "But on the other hand, it was nice to see there weren't a lot of men walking up to her and random strangers."

God forbid a guy should try to help.

Man...the world has become so jaded. No wonder men are afraid to help. Too many people assume they're up to no good instead of trying to help.

I always notice children that are alone or even just wandering unattended and too many steps behind their parents, while the parents are gabbing and chattering and not even paying attention. I see it ALL the time...in malls, in airports...even at the Wal-Mart.

I always want to go up to the parent and blast them about that being how kids go missing and are never heard from again.

I was steamed for several minutes after reading that. It reminded me of times when I was out with my daughter, still in a stroller, and I'd occasionally -- not often, but not rare -- get these looks from passing women...

Of course, the odds are with them. It IS guys who normally perpetrate this kind of evilness.

As for the oblivious parents, there's always the story about the woman who says to her doc that the kids are driving her crazy, is there anything he can give her to keep her calm. And he does. Weeks later, he says 'how are you and the kids now?' To which she replies 'What kids?'
