A Choux!

Not pronounced choox, but shoo -- a kind of pastry dough. I'm going to give it a try today. Never done it before. The New York Times had a little article about it, this past weekend, noting cheerily that even people who do it all the time have problems with it. Oh, boy, sounds like fun!

While we were walking this morning -- bright sunshine, temp in the high 70s, no humidity -- and talking about this and that, we got onto talking about Things To Do With The House -- which is when my, ahem, brilliant idea occurred to me. We both like the idea of putting an elevator onto the house, but differ as to where -- I'd like it at the far end of the garage, where it will not block the view from the kitchen extension, and my wife would like it along the right side of the house, where it would not feed directly into our bedroom. Both solutions assume building a bedroom above the garage, and turning our existing bedroom into a combination elevator access and closet-room. We've talked more than once about putting the elevator in various places in the house, but none seemed quite right, which is what led us to thinking about putting on an 'arcade' to house the elevator. Well, I thought abruptly, the bedroom has an open room just below it -- the storage room, formerly the garage. What about putting the elevator inside the house, in the former bedroom, going down to the storage room? No extra arcade, cheaper to do! We both like that idea. I'm sure something will occur to me that we'll have to mull over, but for now, thats The Solution.

Okay, having mown the lawn, I'm now going to read for a while. Oh, this retired life is so strenuous!

Not bad. I think I overdid the egg wash a bit...but it was really easy to make.
