Interesting commentary. I fear it may be inaccurate though.
Mr. Obama at his most socialist is not even close to being as socialist as even our most conservative of parties. In Canada, socialism is simply not an issue... Who will pay to put Grandma into the nursing home...now THAT's an issue.If you can get the (socialist) state to pay it, well, thats a pretty nice chunk of change in your pocket.
We do things that piss people off a lot...make them innoculate their kids if they want to send them to school for instance, and fine them big time if they are talking on the cell phone while driving, or not wearing a seat belt. IMHO, there are a few too many of these things being imposed by law instead of by common sense. And maybe it HAS been the thin edge of the wedge of socialism. But I think it has worked out okay so far.
My point? I don't care WHAT Joe the Plumber says....Mr. Obama is NOT a socialist. Thats a bogus arguement, made by a guy that doesn't want "restrictions" like proper licencing to interfear with his running his business and doing his job. Mr. McCain should be ashamed to have that bozo giving speeches for him!
Oh well, if only I DIDN"T have a dog in this race. The trouble is that when the American elephant rolls over, everybody else who is in bed with him has to hustle to accomodate him. And I really wish I could have a say in what is going on, but I don't. I only hope that the result won't be a disaster for the US, because a disaster for the US will be a disaster for virtually every other country in the world. Especially pool old socialist Canada.
