I loved this, Tina Fey was so spot on and I'm glad she has agreed to appear on SNL periodically for political sketches. The jab about the glasses, while irrelevant, was particularly funny as Tina Fey has been wearing that style for years.
The other day there was the largest protest in Alaska's history held in Anchorage. An anti-McCain/Palin protest. I particularly got a kick out of a couple of homemade signs. The first said: McCain/Palin: Incontinent/Incompetent.
And the other one said McCain/Palin: Unstable/Unable.
Sure they don't encourage discourse with those that disagree but they sure gave me a giggle.
I don't know, Narie. I want to believe that for once we're going to get someone we can believe in, someone who will generate hope instead of whats in it for me, and then I see that JUST because McCain picks this woman, nothing about who she is or what she believes or what she's done, no, JUST because she's a woman, suddenly he's a contender, and not only that, but doing really well --
That's how I felt in 2000 and 2004. Just...depressed. When you posted earlier about being ashamed of your country for the first time if these two get elected, I knew exactly what you were talking about. It's a devastating feeling, feeling like the country you've been so proud of belonging to all your life, is just not what you think it is. I think that's why so many liberals have been a bit crazy the past 8 years.
I'm trying not to let myself get too upset with things this time around. I've actually perked up the last couple days because for once, finally the media is calling the Republicans out on the lies and not letting them wiggle out of it.
I try and look at the good news too. I saw on a liberal news site the other day links to my states new voter registration numbers for the year. 124,000 new Democrats registered, less than 3,000 new Republicans. In North Carolina no less, it's encouraging!

I'm doing a little bit in that regard -- I signed up nine new registrations today!
And yeah, the calling out is pretty good. Still got a loooong ways to go...but its a start.
