Guns and Fear

This is the latest example of what people who want to abolish private gun ownership fear. Guns don't kill people; people do. So, how do we keep this from happening, and still let people own guns?

You use all those special ads that the government makes to teach responsible gun ownership and give free gun safety classes for the youth.
I learned through this method and taught my children through this method. They know if you point a gun at someone or something it's going to be dead for real if you shoot them. They also learned the ramifications for their actions.

And I don't doubt that they work. Not in this case, though, nor in Columbine or the others. So, do we just have to accept them as part of life?

Well I can tell you that through my perception of this video, This kid or guy is mentally out there for starters. We are always gonna have this to deal with and how do you fix that? They hide it very well.
...and I don't know the answers on how to stop it, I don't believe gun control is the answer.
I've seen more good come from having a gun and the lack of violence that it insues, than not having one and being a victim with out a means to protect myself.
What scares me is the shock devices and the increased use of them for date rapes, rapes and robberies.

I agree that this guy was apparently a space cadet. The thing is, you need a way to say 'if you're currently normal (and lets not get into 'its the day after your husband left you, the dog died, and you lost your job'), then sure, have a gun. But if you're not, you can't. Problem is, that means not having physical possession of the gun, and I know how the nra and many, perhaps most, gun owners feel about that.
