Nous avons un chat.

Or we will, one she's spayed and front-declawed. Say, about a week.

A very quiet, reclusive, somewhat timid cat. I like that. Even if I don't get to name it Magic. My daughter's plumping for Rinslett (a manga name). I kind of like Abby, which is the name it has now. Or Abbicat.

We'll see.

I vote for Abbicat or perhaps Alleycat?

I like the cadence of both. I suspect it will be Abbicat, AKA Rinslet. Whatever it is, I'm kind of looking forward to it. And if you visit, we'll hide her.

One or two of our cats go through a variety of names. Some are printable, some (especially when Copper runs under my feet while I'm on the stairs), aren't.

My Nan's cat had a good name: Cat. :-)

Names for the animals I leave to the Missus. Except for the Chicken. It's actually a Guinea Fowl, but I started calling it "the Chicken", and it sort of stuck. The Mrs wanted to call it Cornelius, or Cornelia if it was a girl But we don't know what it is, and I keep calling it "The Chicken".

These mornings I'll lean out of the door and call out "Mornin' Chicken!" and throw some seed or bread for it. It gallops across the lawn! It's even getting to the point where "Mornin' Chicken!" it's starting its run.

When it comes to cats all you have to remember is that you exist to serve them. Remember that, and you'll be acceptable. (As far as the cat is concerned...) :-)

The cats just look at it, hungrily.

Something went wrong with that last comment. "The cats just look at it hungrily" was supposed to be under the bit where I describe how I just the thing "The Chicken".

The last cat we had was named TC. In theory, that stood for The Cat, because my father had named his cat, Cat, and I liked the idea. But when we saw how fast the cat could move when we yelled at it, I started calling it TurboCat. Turb, for short.

(I liked 'Dog', too, but that would have been a little weird. A friend had a cat with very large thighs. They called it Rabbit. When his wife took their toddler daughter to the pediatrician, the kid pointed to a picture of a cat and said Rabbit! No, the pediatrician said kindly, thats a -- and seemed quite perplexed at the explanation.)
