Hmmm....

From the Metro.Co.UK website --

Swedish women have launched a campaign called Just Breasts which fights for their right to go topless on beaches and in swimming pools. Scandinavian feminists were outraged when two women were asked to cover up their breasts by a lifeguard at a public pool near Stockholm. One of the pair (sorry), 22-year-old Ragnhild Karlsson, said: 'If women are forced to wear a top, shouldn't men also have to?' As a result, women in southern Sweden set up the Bara Bradiost network, which translates as 'Just Breasts'. A spokeswoman for the group said: 'We want our breasts to be as normal and desexualised as men's, so that we too can pull off our shirts at football matches.' So far, the campaign's strategy has been devastatingly effective. Members of Just Breasts have been jumping into swimming pools across the country wearing nothing more than bikini bottoms. This tactical masterstroke has caused an upheaval in Swedish law - the country's equal opportunities ombudsman will decide whether or not to take up the case later this month.

I kind of think this is a good idea....

Sort of a "Just Say Yes" to breasts. Interesting.

Actually, it is. In a way, its like the old joke about the gynecologist coming home when his wife was in a sexy mood. If we could desensitize ourselves, I think we'd be better off.

Course, we'd probably develop a fetish for something else, like toenails. Or start covering something thats readily visible now.

This happened in Ontario. It is not illegal for a woman to be topless in any place that a man can be topless. (silly law anyways...how DO you feed a baby, legally?)
The end result is that...hey, there are no topless women covering the beaches, there are no drooling 11th graders at the swimming pools, and there are no "shirts versus skins" basketball games in gym class.
In other words, a stupid law was recinded, and common decency and courtesy has prevailed. Did anybody expect otherwise?

Oh, absolutely. If the US, or any portion thereof, tried it, there'd be fulminations and media coveration that would make the Britney Spears et al fandangos look like a kid with a Kodak at the petting zoo.

But then, you know my overall opinion of Canadian civility as distinct from ours.
