Baking for the Troops

I saw a post on a blog where the guy said 'Send food to the Army group my daughter's with; they really appreciate it, and they will all thank you." So I did. After a while, I dropped him an email, and he said why yes, they did get it, and they appreciated it. But to me, directly? Not a word.

I'll do it again, but maybe not with quite so much enthusiasm. I suspect that's childish of me.

I don't subscribe to his blog any more.

When I was at work one of my co-workers wives worked as a psychiatrist in Iraq. She said they needed 'women's' toilettries as well as things to tempt the soldier to come into her tent and meet with her for therapy. Another co-worker and I spent quite a bit of money putting together two large boxes over the next two months and we did not get any personal thanks either. I was disappointed because I did not know if this was useful or just a waste of time!

You really want it to be true, and I guess it is. But I also think it turns into a version of "Jerry's Kids" -- oh, look, another package from A Concerned Citizen. Toss it on the pile....
