The Speech

I loved that speech. Obama came through, big time.

He wouldn't have convinced the lunatic fringe, either side, but the center? I think so. He struck strong notes, and he obviously was willing to piss off the one-issue crowd for the overall measure.

I don't feel good, about the passage of this bill, but I feel better.

I understand Joe Wilson of South Carolina was not quite in favor of what he heard. Perhaps he heard a different speech? :-)

I liked the speech, too. He really debunked the rumors that the Republicans had basically ended his Presidency.

Did you read Gail Collins, in the NY Times?

Joe was being bothered by the constant, unrelenting flow of erudite intelligence, elegantly delivered. It's Kryptonite to his sort, it appears.

And, no, but I will look. Thanks.

I think status quo is broken and something has to be done. SO long as some sort of change is made I'll be happier than I am now.

I think that the status quo ante is not what we have now, and it could get worse. Imagine if more people acted like Wilson did. Imagine if the Sergeant at Arms actually had to eject members.

So I'd like to see a change, too, but I want it to be better. Of course, everyone does -- they just dont agree on what 'better' means.
