I found this image on the web site of Pete Carr, a Liverpool-based photographer. Do people still use the word ' Liverpudlian', I wonder? I love it -- the picture exudes youth and vitality. It has the feel of a casual oh, let me get a picture of that image that someone casually snapped on a rainy day, but if you go to his web site and see the other excellent images there -- which I urge you to do, because he's worth it - it becomes immediately apparent that what looks like casual good luck is the result of great skill and a wonderful eye.

I strive to improve my photos, but as you say...there is much more to great photography than agood camera lens and good software.
