KSM

I just read an interesting post and discussion on the Freakonomics blog regarding the confessions of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and whether they mean anything, or indeed should be believed at all. The comments were (summarized) that a) The idea of one person orchestrating all of that activity is hard to believe, because it contradicts the cell concept, though if you think of him as simply being the driver, not the doer, with the doers being the rank and file, perhaps not; b) Even if he's lying, he's part of the organization that does these things, so his removal is a good thing, c) Organizations are necessary for large scale terrorism, but small scale terrorism takes just one person, and d) The timing of these confessions is suggestive -- perhaps this is the Administration's way of distracting us from the string of bad news for them.

What do you think?
