I've used a cane, and though I don't routinely need it now, I still take it when I go to color guard competions, to help me get up and down bleachers. I feel a little odd but hey, it works. Course, you do have to be careful not to put it down someplace where it can roll away.
The weeblestick -- okay, okay, the Balance Stick -- doesn't have that problem. An elegant solution.

Hmm... I like the looks of that! But I wonder if the curved bottom makes it harder for some to carry.
I would imagine that's a possibility, though if its enough of an impediment, you're likely using a walker anyway.
