You assume you'd be working right up to getting SocSec. Not necessarily. I know I'm lucky, but I retired (not of my own volition, but close) when I was 58, and I don't plan on taking SocSec for several years. When that's not an option (and I recognize that for many, it's not), working does not have to be at the current full time until retirement. Will there be some for whom it DOES have to be at the current full time level? Yes. Those whose fiscal requirements can't be pared down. So perhaps the retirement age rise might be keyed to income level. That would be okay, too.

Working until your 70? OK. 69. That's hard. At least, the thought of those 70 hr weeks doesn't float my boat.
