Lighted

I was talking with the rep from the company that redid our downstairs bath, telling him what we want priced for the upstairs hall one.

"Oh, and we want to see about getting a really bright light over the tub, bright enough so that we can use it to read."

He blinked. "A reading light for a tub. Never heard that before."

Seems reasonable to me!

It's one of the most important requirements in the bathroom's I'm renovating! Both bathtubs will get overhead reading lights.

I'm still thinking about one in shower, however... :-)

I turn on almost all the lights in our mater bath (hubby's sink, my sink, heater lights and some other ceiling light to read in the tub!

I don't read in the tub, but I admire the people who do. I'm just too messy to chance it!

Well, I also wanted to have a flat screen tv mounted in the wall, with a feed from the Tivo....but I kind of doubt that's going to happen!

BTW, do heat lamps actually work? I am thinking of putting some downstairs next to the soaking tub, so as to assauge the chill while you're waiting for the darn thing to drain....

No. Not really. I put one in our powder room in Brooklyn - it sort of gestured to the cold, and the top of my head felt warmish, but that was it.

Let me put it this way: the Mrs once had a bunch of ladies over, and they didn't tell us the powder room was warm, but they didn't stay very long.

Brrr. Makes me shiver just thinking of it!

I put one in the shower once. Tricky to do legally! But made it nice.

Brenda wants me to build a gas fireplace beside the tub. Will work fine, I think.

Now that sounds, erm, cool, Stag!

(I didn't think about what I was saying until I, er, said it. Metaphorically speaking, of course!)

My Mrs was talking about one in the shower; does it really work?

Too bad. The writeups I see make it sound as if they can warm up anyplace, pretty quickly.
