I had read, quite some years ago, that fire trucks weren't being painted bright red any more because thats what everyone was used to - and so they blended into the background, even with lights and sirens. Thats when they went to the neon-green color. I would imagine thats why these people just casually pulled right in front of a lumbering bus - they didn't see anything that set off the 'whups, better not do that!' Hey, its just a bus.....
Course, some communities, after changing the color, went back to bright red, because, you know, how else would you know it was a firetruck?
