I am in shock and disbelief that adults would do something like this to a 13 year old who obviously had problems with depression and self-esteem. Stories like this make me think something is really wrong with our world.
I can't tell you the cause, though lack of leadership -- actual leaders -- and a general decline in public morality -- cite your own villains here -- occurs to me.
All I can do is do what I can, within my own orbit.
I am amazed at the calculated cruelty in all this. We all blurt out callous, insensitive remarks from time to time. Most of us say unkind things in private. It's usually something we would "take back" if we had the moment over again.
But to spend so much time and effort, to put so much thought and planning into this is incredible. What could they have been thinking?
I think very few people are actually 'evil'. I think a lot more are dumb, stupid SOBs. These appear to be of that class. They thought it'd be fun... and have no idea how to fix it when it went off the rails.
Bill, Thanks for posting that link. I made my daughter sit down and read it last night. She is exactly 1 day older than the girl in the article. I hope it made her think about Cyber-space and cutting remarks in general

Its possible I'm being generous, here.

Not to mention, unfortunately, assuming that whatever adults do must be okay.
