I don't wear a hearing aid, but there are times that I wish I did. So that I could turn it off.
The other night, I was driving my daughter and two other girls to a color guard event. One of the other girls said that my daughter was unusually antic, and it 'must be that time of the month for you'. (I cringed.) My daughter replied 'No, for you!', and the first girl said 'Well, two days ago, yeah...remember? I said I couldn't decide if I should wear my RED pants? That was why!'

Whats funny is that the girl who said it thought that I 'got' it when she first made the comment, the other day. In fact, I didn't - but I didn't see the need to enlighten her. The whole thing proves to me that for girls of that age, Dads are not Guys... which is, I think, a good thing.
I think this hearing aid idea has some real merit. After all, wouldn't it come in handy when they make those looooong speeches at company events? Or when nosy relatives start listing all of the things you should change about your life?
Yes, absolutely. I can see it now. The filter kicks in once you realize that the audio stream is something that you really don't want to hear, but you can't get away (I thought about stopping the car and running away, fingers in ears, saying LALALALA loudly...) And then the optional chip starts playing relaxing tones, so the other person is saying how fat and inept you are, and you're nodding and smiling... There's real potential there!
