Well, when I smoked, people said that it killed cold and flu germs. Smoking keeps you thin, so you don't get obesity related diseases. And yes, cancer has much the same benefits.
I think I picked that idea up out of a dream about health care - the idea that we don't really care about that, but we do about looks. Would we care even less if... A variant of live fast, die young, leave a good-looking corpse.
