OGO Mojo

I'm about a fifth of the way through Odd Girl Out, and all I can think is Man, I'm glad that's not my daughter.

Followed a moment later by Man, I hope that's not my daughter.

Scary stuff.

Reading that book was a revelation for me, and I wasn't even a girl who got singled out or picked on. I have never been able to put into words what school was like and why I disliked it so much and this book pretty much nailed it for me.

Sure I had some good friends and had good times in school as well, but what the book so adequately expresses is how girls tend to deal with each other when there is conflict. Except for the extreme cases of bullying, I found the average story in there to be pretty accurate of how girls interact.
It's all psychological and I think that brings us back to some of the reasons why girls tend to lose self-esteem as they become tweens and teens.
