That's Stray Sunday Thoughts, in case you wondered. Or even if you didn't.
This laptop! My wonderful hypothesis not withstanding, it's still intermittently failing on me. As best I can tell, what's happening is that the network adapter for the wireless connection every so often just disconnects itself. About a fifth of the time, it'll reconnect all by itself; about half of the remainder, logging off and back on will get it to reconnect. And of the remaining outages, usually a down-and-up will fix it. But sometimes, it takes a flat down. And restart.
Baking! I see where there are bakeries in the DC area that make wonderful cupcakes. And so I (of course) start to think 'Hmm...I could try that!' Yes, Bill, you could. But maybe it'd be better to be sure that you've got the French Bread thing down, n'est ce pas? And lets not forget simpler things, like biscuits (we're baking that dough from yesterday, today), rolls, and such? And maybe you'll even get to the point where you can make decent bagels (lots of people looking for a recipe to mimic Panera Bread's Cinnamon Crunch bagels), or even those terrific soft biscotti that one, count it, one company made -- and its now out of business? Wouldn't that be nice? But, okay, maybe cupcakes would be better to try than cakes, when you get to that stage -- smaller batches, less waste, less to clean up, all of that. But not now! (As I read of doughnuts with thick cream filling, or melted Belgian chocolate , or fried with sugared icing...mmmm...)
Politics! The Post's article on the ruminations of the people who've recently left the White House is interesting, and, without suggesting that its not worth reading (because it really is), can be summed up as 'We're not sorry we did what we did, we wish things had gone better, and we're not entirely sure why it didn't, though certain people, not all of whom are Democrats, come to mind, and we didn't leave because we had to/no longer believed/wanted to avoid jail, but rather because it was time, we were a little bit burned out, and we wanted to move on with our lives, which we define as spending time with family, writing books to Set The Record Straight, and earning stiff fees giving speeches.'
