Love this! And it's too true! When Husband is working with a couple, picking colors to paint their house, the guy always says a generic.. green.. the woman goes into detail about how it should be seafoam, but not quite so dark, and a little less blue in it..
We have a funny story about that. When we had the kitchen extension built, we told the guy that we wanted it to be the same color as our dining room (which is a dark cream). After he was done, I asked why it had green in it; he said that it didn't, and my wife agreed - but I still saw it, so we paid him to put a second coat on. I still saw green, though not as much. I decided to live with it.
My wife thought that I was 'seeing' the green of the trees outside (which aren't that close), but when fall came, I still saw it. We decided that I see colors just slightly differently than she does -- or, apparently, most people.
Later, we realized that this is likely why I wasn't able to see the red LED display on our television; it's just a shade of black, really. And that's also why I tend not to see dust when she clearly can; dust is just a shade of the underlying color.
Can't tell how often that last observation has helped me. Dust? What dust?
