I admit I am a bit prejudiced about the French and their attitude, but my experience has been most Europeans are extremely polite and sometimes a little empathetic to our strange politics. They are mostly liberals after all.
I'm gutting up for this trip. I will speak routinely in French. No matter how badly I do it. Because if I don't, why continue to study?
