Useful Phrases

From an exercise in Passe Compose tense:

Aujourd'hui je pars, parce qu'hier j'ai appris que mon mari me trompait.

Today I am leaving, because yesterday I learned that my husband was cheating on me.

Hmm...should I point that out to my wife? Just as a linguistic exercise?

I have been informed that a) I will never need that phrase, and b) if I DO, the phrase Il est mort will shortly thereafter be in use.

My son and daughter in law speak Spanish. I think they also speak French. Through them I have met the French professor at the school, who along with his wife, speak french to their children, I suppose as a learning tool. Myself I have wrestled with the Spanish language for many years at arms length but never learning it. Maybe a little Mex-Tex.

Language is a challenge when you're young and to do so at your age, well you must appreciate a challenge.

Good luck with it.
