I guess I do have a thing about France. I just did a search on Google Images for
Écoles Primaire Municipales, and was charmed by the pictures of all the little French kids. I know, pictures of little kids are almost always charming, but these seemed somehow special. Go figure.

There is a French school adjascent to the library where I work and the kids come in several times a week to check out books. They are ADORABLE. Little kids speaking French = cutest thing ever.
We were at a zoo in Bourgogne once when a troupe of first graders went past. They all stared at me, so I said Bonjour (which was about all that I could say at that point). They all whispered bawnzhoor!
