It has become epidemic in all militaries... though I know this particular rant refers to a small cadre of kiddie pornographers who have since been released, his message is targeted to generation Y hipsters who have no clear internal moral identity.
This fellow says all the right things. I would like to see something more than "well don't do that, if you want to do that, then get out".
I want to see jail time. Some of my female fellow soldiers felt that their entire time in the military was a special form of jail time....and we worked VERY hard to improve the "military culture". I see failure in all militaries. A HUGE investigation is ongoing right now about Canada's beloved RCMP on this very topic. Heads have already rolled.
I used to have a sterling image of the US Air Force Academy. Then I heard about female cadets being molested and worse.
Its one thing to think well, they're being crybabies; they sought it and then rejected it. Intellectually, I know that no means no; no after some leadin-- I don't agree entirely. It's like the whole 'slutwalk' thing; I don't agree with that. I'm more in line with the comedian who said 'you may not be a whore, but if you're wearing a whore's uniform....' But these were women who didn't consent, in any form. They didn't instigate it, they didn't encourage it. And they were ignored.
